When I Paint, I Feel...
The creation of a painting or drawing is a meditation allowing me to stay a while longer in a moment that spoke to me. When I am working, I find myself apart from the distraction of the past and the uncertainty of the future. I experience an island of silence: an oasis that allows me to contemplate, savor and render a world apart from everyday reality. Hopefully, my finished works allow the observer to share this experience of inner peace.
Each brush stroke and every color placed on the canvas emanates from the depths of my spirit.
Often a painting will begin without a preconceived notion of what will emerge. Her preferred surfaces are hardwood, stretched canvas, where I build layers of color and texture one upon the other. I use palette knives and brushes to begin the first layer, then build upon this by interweaving color.
Much of my life has been about understanding how and what would move me into being fully immersed in what I was doing. Listening.
This painting, Calling Angels, offers relaxation on a warm day.
